Taxonomy
Gastrioceras williamsi was named by Miller and Cline (1934). Its type specimen is USGS 1725 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 981, Layland tunnel, Sublette Range, which is in a Roadian offshore shale in the Phosphoria Formation of Wyoming.
