Campinasuchus was named by Carvalho et al. (2011). Its type is Campinasuchus dinizi.
It was assigned to Pissarrachampsinae by Godoy et al. (2014); to Baurusuchidae by Carvalho et al. (2011), Pol et al. (2014); and to Pissarrachampsinae by Darlim et al. (2021), Darlim et al. (2021).
