Foordiceras ornatissimum was named by Miller and Youngquist (1949). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 9802, S of Highway 67, Coleman, which is in an Artinskian shallow subtidal lime mudstone/shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas.
