Taxonomy
Ceratites (Phillipites) ransomei was named by Smith (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wheeler Mine, Unionville, which is in a Pelsonian deep-water siliciclastic in the Favret Formation of Nevada.
It was recombined as Hollandites ransomei by Spath (1934); it was recombined as Favreticeras ransomei by Bucher (1992).
