Austrofusus affiliatus was named by Finlay (1926). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Austrofusus (Austrofusus) affiliatus by Beu and Maxwell (1990); it was recombined as Aethocola (Aethocola) affiliata by Beu and Raine (2009).
