Pecten greenlandicus was named by Sowerby (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Greenland.]. It is extant.

It was corrected as Pecten groenlandica by Richards (1962), Richards (1962); it was recombined as Arctinula groenlandica by MacNeil (1967); it was recombined as Arctinula greenlandica by Simonarson et al. (1998); it was recombined as Delectopecten greenlandicus by Gordillo and Aitken (2000); it was recombined as Similipecten greenlandicus by Waller (2011).
