Conocardium dubia was named by Williams and Breger (1916) [?Conocardium dubia]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is locality 1099J, west of Presque Isle stream, Presque Township, which is in a Lochkovian delta front sandstone in the Chapman Sandstone Formation of Maine.
It was recombined as Cartericardia dubia by Wagner (2023).
