Taxonomy
Glyptogenys ornata was named by Gao and Fox (1991). Its type specimen is UALVP 29735, a mandible (anterior part of left dentary bearing 12 well-preserved teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Irvine microvertebrate site, which is in a Judithian terrestrial horizon in the Dinosaur Park Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Glyptogenys.
