Taxonomy
Lichuanospongia typica was named by Zhang (1983). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jiantianba Reef, Section J, Lichuan, which is in a Changhsingian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Changxing Formation of China.
It was recombined as Cystauletes typica by Rigby et al. (1995).
