Taxonomy
Cystothalamia irregulara was named by Rigby et al. (1995). Its type specimen is USNM 463570 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Huangnitang Reef silicified blocks, Lichuan, which is in a Changhsingian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Changxing Formation of China.
