Taxonomy
Lepidotes gloriae was named by Thies (1989). Its type specimen is USNM 279856, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Hoyo de San Antonio, which is in an Oxfordian marine limestone in the Jagua Formation of Cuba.
