Taxonomy
Colospongia iranica was named by Senowbari-Daryan (2005). It is not extant. Its type locality is Marawand reef, Marawand area, Central Iran, which is in a Sevatian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Nayband Formation of Iran.
