Hayasakapora otai was named by Sugimura (1972). Its type specimen is ASM 9406B and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nakano-dai, locality NKD 254, Akiyoshi, which is in a Serpukhovian carbonate limestone in Japan.
