Erythrotherium parringtoni

Taxonomy
Erythrotherium parringtoni was named by Crompton (1964). Its type specimen is SAM-K-359, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 5 km southeast of Likhoele, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial horizon in the Elliot Formation of Lesotho. It is the type species of Erythrotherium.

Posterior lower postcanines similar to those of Morganucodon watsoni except that the cingulum cusps are less well developed. Upper posterior postcanines, unlike those of Morganucodon, consist of five cusps aligned antero-posteriorly. Anterior and posterior accessory cusps of the same size.
