Nautilus (Domatoceras) hunicus was named by Diener (1903). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chitichun No. 1 Block (Walker collection), which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in China.
It was recombined as Domatoceras hunicum by Teichert and Kummel (1973).
