Taxonomy
Vaurealispongia minuta was named by Rigby et al. (1979). It is not extant. Its type locality is Eucalyptocrinites crassus-Lecanocrinus pusillus Assoc., Basal Waldron Unit 3, which is in a Wenlock deep subtidal shelf mudstone/wackestone in the Waldron Shale Formation of Indiana.
