Paramicroderoceras was named by Dommergues et al. (1994). Its type is Microderoceras birchiades.
It was assigned to Liparoceratidae by Blau (1998); to Eoderoceratidae by Donovan and Surlyk (2003), Meister and Friebe (2003) and Hillebrandt (2006); to Paramicroderoceratidae by Geczy and Meister (2007); and to Eoderoceratinae by Howarth (2013).
