Taxonomy
Rankenella hamdii was named by Kruse and Zhuravlev (2008). It is not extant. Its type locality is Shahmirzad Member 2, Elburz Mountains, which is in a Mayan shallow subtidal wackestone/shale in the Mila Formation of Iran.
