Taxonomy
Pleuronodoceras matanense was named by Zhao et al. (1978). Its type specimen is NIGP 34346 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Matan Section, Dalong Formation, Heshan, which is in a Changhsingian deep-water siliciclastic in the Dalong Formation of China.
