Aulagonoceras bispirale was named by Zheng (1984). Its type specimen is NIGP 34394 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zhongying Section Bed 22 (QZ-4), Qinglong County, which is in a Changhsingian coastal siltstone in China.
