Taxonomy
Alytodonta gibbosa was named by Cope (1997). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BMNH L. 49858, a shell. Its type locality is Mulloch Hill, Ayrshire [Mulloch Hill Sandstone], which is in a Rhuddanian marine sandstone in the Mulloch Hill Formation of the United Kingdom.
