Taxonomy
Goniopholis kirtlandicus was named by Wiman (1932). Its type specimen is PMU.R230, 231, 2332. It is the type species of Denazinosuchus.
It was recombined as Denazinosuchus kirtlandicus by Lucas and Sullivan (2003) and Andrade et al. (2011).
