Procarnites kummeli was named by Popov (1962). Its type specimen is TsNIGR 180/9335, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Proptychitoides kummeli by Kummel (1969); it was recombined as Evenites kummeli by Dagis and Ermakova (1988).
