Taxonomy
Gilbertsocrinus rarispinus was named by Goldring (1936). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM 90069, a calyx. Its type locality is Werner's Quarry, which is in a Devonian marine limestone in the Moscow Formation of New York.
