Aigialosaurus bucchichi
Taxonomy
Opetiosaurus bucchichi was named by Kornhuber (1901). Its type specimen is Vienna museum specimen, a skeleton (Skeleton lacking part of tail), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lesina (Universitat Wien NHMW collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Starigrad Limestone Formation of Croatia.
It was synonymized subjectively with Aigialosaurus dalmaticus by Carroll and DeBraga (1992); it was misspelled as Opetiosaurus buccichi by Bell (1997), Bell and Polcyn (2005); it was recombined as Aigialosaurus bucchichi by Dutchak and Caldwell (2009).
