Taxonomy
Strigogoniatites nodosus was named by Zhao (1955). Its type specimen is NIGP 7469 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sifangtang, Liujiang County, which is in a Capitanian marine shale in the Kufeng Formation of China.
