Taxonomy
Phelopteria huitriniana was named by Lazo and Damborenea (2011). It is not extant. Its type specimen is CPBA 20331.1, a valve (nearly complete specimen with both valves articulated). Its type locality is Agua de la Mula (La Tosca Member, Huitrin Formation), which is in a Barremian shallow subtidal limestone/wackestone in the Huitrin Formation of Argentina.
