Taxonomy
Flexoptychites matsushimaensis was named by Bando (1964). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hamada, Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture (reitzi zone), which is in a Fassanian marine shale in the Rifu Formation of Japan.
