Taxonomy
Hypselocrinus defendus was named by Washburn (1968). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BYU 1496 (dorsal cup). Its type locality is Bridal Veil Falls Trail, which is in a Morrowan/Wolfcampian marine limestone in the Oquirrh Formation of Utah.
