Tethyaster jurassicus was named by Blake (1986). Its type specimen is Holotype USNM 382601, Paratype USNM 382602 and is a 3D body fossil.

Madreporite large, located near to edge of abactinal field. Intermarginal channels relatively shallow; larger inferomarginal spines conical, with pointed tips. |
