Taxonomy
Hirneacrinus cupellaeformis was named by Frest and Strimple (1977). It is not extant. Its type specimen is SUI 39508, an other (Dorsal Cup). Its type locality is Adams Quarry, which is in a Wenlock marine limestone in Indiana. It is the type species of Hirneacrinus.
