Taxonomy
Hirneacrinus perplanus was named by Frest and Strimple (1977). It is not extant. Its type specimen is FMNH UC 33686 (Dorsal Cup). Its type locality is Adams Quarry, which is in a Wenlock marine limestone in Indiana.
