Taxonomy
Histionotus angularis was named by Egerton (1854). Its type specimen is BMNH P.577, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Swanage (BMNH fish coll.), which is in a Berriasian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
