Pecten (Chlamys) dallasi was named by Jordan and Hertlein (1926). Its type specimen is CAS 1862, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Pecten (Pecten) dallasi by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Aequipecten dallasi by Moore (1984); it was recombined as Chagrepecten dallasi by Waller (2011).
