Taxonomy
Popanoceras tschernyschewi was named by Stoyanow (1910). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Araxes River canyon, bed 11, which is in a Changhsingian marine marl in the Ali Bashi Formation of Azerbaijan.
It was recombined as Stacheoceras tschernyschewi by Bogoslovskaya (1990), Leonova (2002).
