Saccammina was named by Sars in Carpenter (1869) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Saccammininae by Cushman (1927), Loeblich and Tappan (1988); to Saccamminidae by Morlotti (1988); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
