Taxonomy
Barbatia (Barbatia) picota was named by Olsson (1964). Its type specimen is USNM 643764, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mompiche [Santiago facies], which is in a Miocene marginal marine sandstone/sandstone in Ecuador.
