Taxonomy
Spirifer wynnei was named by Waagen (1883).

It was recombined as Spirifer (Choristitella) wynnei by Reed (1944); it was recombined as Zhejiangospirifer wynnei by Shen et al. (2003); it was recombined as Choristitella wynnei by Kotlyar (1989), Tazawa (2011) and Tazawa (2012).
