Crocodilus isorhynchus was named by Pomel (1847). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mont-Aimé, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in France.
It was recombined as Thoracosaurus isorhynchus by Swinton (1938).
