Hypsidoris oregonensis was named by Grande and De Pinna (1998). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Horse Heaven Mine, which is in an Eocene lacustrine shale in the Clarno Formation of Oregon. It is the type species of Hypsidoris.
