Taxonomy
Procolophonichnium nopcsai was named by Nopcsa (1923). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Middleburg, which is in a Triassic floodplain mudstone/sandstone in the Balfour Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Procolophonichnium.
