Taxonomy
Nucula polita was named by Sowerby (1833). It is extant. It is the type species of Politoleda.

It was recombined as Nuculana (Politoleda) polita by Jung (1965), Keen (1971), Huber (2010); it was recombined as Politoleda polita by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
