Cancellaria decaptyx was named by Brown and Pilsbry (1911) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Panama.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 1701, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Cancellaria (Narona) decaptyx by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Narona decaptyx by Landau et al. (2012) and Landau et al. (2012).
