Taxonomy
Plagioecia was named by Canu (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo R Sepkoski's reference number: 1241]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Plagioeciidae.

It was assigned to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Plagioeciidae by Bassler (1953), Lee et al. (1997), Guha and Gopikrishna (2007), Hara and Taylor (2009), Guha (2013), Gordon and Taylor (2015), Brezina et al. (2021), Håkansson et al. (2024).
