Cancellaria (Pyruclia) telemba was named by Olsson (1964) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Ecuador.]. Its type specimen is USNM 643867, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Pyruclia telemba by Landau et al. (2012).
