Reptoclausa was named by d'Orbigny (1853) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 626,908]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Clausidae by Bassler (1953); to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Multisparsidae by Hara and Taylor (2009), Taylor (2010).
