Taxonomy
Lenotropites ellesmerensis was named by Tozer (1994). Its type specimen is GSC 28483 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 47550, Spath Creek (SCN), Ellesmere Island, which is in an Aegean marine shale/siltstone in the Blaa Mountain Formation of Canada.
