Vipera maxima
Taxonomy
Vipera maxima was named by Szyndlar (1988). Its type specimen is MNCN 10032, a set of vertebrae (a single trunk vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Layna, Cerro Pelado, which is in a Ruscinian karst horizon in Spain.
It was recombined as Vipera (Daboia) maxima by Zerova (1992).
