Taxonomy
Shastites vulcanus was named by Tozer (1994). Its type specimen is GSC 32560 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is South of Crescent Bay, Texada Island (GSC 79255), which is in a Tuvalian marine horizon in Canada.
