Taxonomy
Terebratula cynocephala was named by Richard (1840).

It was recombined as Rhynchonella cynocephala by Davidson (1852); it was recombined as Homoeorhynchia cynocephala by Ager (1956), Ager (1967), Alméras and Peybernès (1979), Alméras (1996), Alméras et al. (1996), Alméras and Fauré (2000).
